Lapland Snow Design Event

We aim to promote Lapland as the expert and trendsetter in arctic design. University of Lapland, the Faculty of Art and Design and Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences, School of Technology will design in cooperation with participants coordinated by Rovaniemen kehitys Oy a site which will present Lapland’s snow and ice competence and will also be used as the place to display local design competence and new snow and ice design.

The implementation will utilise existing knowledge and competence and apply the processes of user-oriented design, service design, environment and community art as well as the adventure industry. The environment will emphasise tourism design, and it will be carried out in a culturally, ecologically and financially sustainable way. This means, among other things that local cultural and physical characteristics will be taken into account in the design as well as the use of ecologically efficient working methods.
