Viking Line has been in the sea transport and marine tourism business since 1959.
Thanks to strong competence combined with technical ability, carefully planned logistics and first-rate services, Viking Line is able to offer diverse cruise, leisure and business travel packages to meet customers’ needs, as well as goods transports between Finland, Sweden, Estonia and the Åland Islands.
Viking Line’s vision is to offer the most attractive short journeys on the market. This will be achieved by developing the product in collaboration with customers, by focusing on the quality issues that matter most to customers, and by creating an appealing atmosphere thanks to high booking quotient.
The vision is being fulfilled. In 2009, Viking Line was given the Finnish Quality Award as recognition for its operational excellence in developing quality and competitiveness.
The company’s aim is to further improve its customers’ travel experiences by introducing new onboard concepts and by increasing design orientation in all parts of its operations. The World Design Capital initiative offers excellent opportunities for this.
In 2013, the Viking Line fleet will be expanded with a new ship that runs on liquefied gas. This will be a new-generation vessel, whose design emphasises environmentalism, travel comfort and user experiences.
The competition for the design of the new vessel’s interior was won by the Finnish interior design company dSign, which convinced the jury with its experience design and impressive visions for the cruise vessel of the future. The project is attracting a lot of international attention.
