Martela launches competition for inspiring office

Finnish furniture and interior solutions company Martela seeks concepts for a new type of creative and inspiring office in a new Inspiring Spaces competition targeted at designers, architects, design and architectural students, and teams.

The jury will assess proposals on the basis of functional and structural solutions, as well as the quality of design and architecture. They will pay special attention to general aesthetic standards and innovative use of materials. The jury will also look at the compatibility of the proposals with the intended applications, users and the operational contexts.

The winner of the Martela Inspiring Spaces Design Award will be announced at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2011. First prize will earn the winner 12,000 euros.

The competition is part of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme.

Martela is organizing the competition now for the first time. Proposals will be accepted January 31, 2010.
