City planners from Berlin and Helsinki meet

Helsinki made a splash in Berlin in spring 2008 through the HelsinkKissBerlin programme of events. One of the events was a city planning seminar between planners from both cities. This seminar created the basis for ongoing co-operation, which will enter its second stage in the beginning of September in Helsinki. A new seminar will be organized at the Helsinki City Planning headquarters in Helsinki on 3rd September, starting at 9 a.m. The topics discussed will deal with themes current at both cities, including new urban housing concepts, sustainable development, interactive city planning, and city planning and development processes. Some of the strategically important projects in Berlin and Helsinki will be presented. *Berlin in transition goes on display at the Laituri gallery* From 2nd to 19th September, Helsinki City Planning’s Laituri gallery will host an exhibition on Berlin’s planning and development, “The New Berlin”.
