The Design 200 series will offer interesting perspectives on design

Design 200 is a 200-part TV series, each episode lasting for approximately two minutes and focusing on a particular Finnish design object. The aim is to offer an entertaining and convenient way to learn about the milestones of Finnish design.

The objects chosen for the series can differ greatly, yet the most important criterion was the object's significance within the field of design. Diversity in this case refers to the uses of the objects as well as the manufacturing methods and materials used. The object could be a widely renowned product, such as the Aalto stool, which has been manufactured industrially with over 1,000,0000 stools sold to date, or, on the hand, a particular Sarpaneva glass art object which would be the only one of its kind.

The first episode of the series, produced in cooperation between the Design Museum and Svenska Kulturfondet, will be shown on Monday, 9 January 2012 at YLE FST5 in conjunction with the Min Morgon programme, and is to be broadcast each weekday at approximately 8:10.
