Wednesday, our big day, started with rain. At 9pm, the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 media and stakeholder event dubbed “Cucina Povera” was in full swing, with all the major international media organisations as well as influential names from the design industry represented on the guest list.

By Tuesday, downtown Milan is brimming with energy and crowds, with design shops and showrooms drawing people in from the swarming streets.
