With a lot of interesting program from ice lantern and igloo building workshops to sharing ideas on how to utilise unused spaces, it is extremely hard to choose a route without doing a marathon. To build up your stamina, here is an idea to start off the weekend on Friday:
Delete. You will need an open and stress-free mind wich is why I recommend all the office slaves start with the “delete” button. Clean your inbox on the national e-mail clean-out day and 925 project. Where: Your computer.
Food. Visit the Aitokauppa food store offering tastings. The interiors are made from everyday recyclable design, and the products include high quality produce from small farms. Where: Tehtaankatu 12, Helsinki (Open until 8 p.m.)
Sauna. You will have a chance to take a peek into the future of the Wholesale Market area (Tukkutori in Finnish). This autumn the spaces will be transformed and used as the base of the food & design related events called Teurastamo. After the tour, there is a possibility to have a sauna. The Whole Sale market will barbeque hundreds of Helsinki “würst”. Bring your own towel and an open mind. Where: Työpajankatu 2, (from 5 to 9 p.m.), near the Kalasatama metro station. The organisers recommend you come by skis to build up your stamina even more!
Following the recommendations of fellow bathers will guide your way from there on to the next events of the Open Doors Weekend. Enjoy!
