The programme entity at the Helsinki City Planning Department’s Information and Exhibition Hall Laituri is centred on the theme of Open City – a Better Life for City Residents.
The aim is to encourage our city residents to participate and influence the development of their living environment. The fundamental themes of the entity are the future of Helsinki, developing the urban environment and improvements to the living environment and public services.
The exhibition and events calendar at Laituri includes projects related to the future of Helsinki, developing urban life and the role of design in the public space. In addition to changing content, Laituri will display the largest of Helsinki’s regional construction projects, such as the plans for Länsisatama, Kalasatama and Kruununvuorenranta, all year long.
Laituri will give residents and visitors the chance to take a peek at the Helsinki of tomorrow and take part in discussion about the city's development. Everyday design in the urban space and development of the living environment will be central themes throughout the year at Laituri events. These themes will be addressed from the angles of forms of living, cycling, shopping centres and station districts.
