IBM

The world has changed quite a lot during IBM’s 100 years of existence, but the company's basic idea has always remained the same – using technology to solve different challenges.

Development of smarter operating methods and new innovations highlight the importance of design when developing services and systems. Design has undergone a transition from something tangible to a user experience.

IBM is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and IBM Finland is turning 75 at the same time. Although technology 100 years ago was very different from that of today, IBM is still a technology and service company. Instead of scales, calculators and personal computers, we now produce highly developed systems that try to make the world a smarter place. We are involved in building safer cities, cleaner bodies of water and more sensible transportation.

Information technology plays a major role in our daily life today; there are countless examples of smart solutions made possible by technology. The main question is whether we can innovate new kinds of operating models and methods to utilize existing technology more intelligently. This cannot happen in a vacuum and will require a new kind of dialogue and boldness.
