The latest ideas and concepts of young Finnish designers are on view in the
Somedemos and Living Details exhibitions at Design Forum Finland in Helsinki
through October 25th, 2009.
Somedemos is a collection that addresses design from various perspectives,
put together by the Design Migration association. Design Migration seeks to
provide employment for young designers through opportunities to display
product ideas at events aimed at manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
The Somedemos products on view at Design Forum Finland are wilder versions of
prototypes tailored for commercial applications, some of which were exhibited
at the Habitare Furniture, Interior Decoration and Design Fair in Helsinki
from September 9th to 13th. Somedemos presents work by 13 designers.
The Living Details exhibition by interior architect Esa Vesmanen combines
Nordic modern and minimalist design with elements of nature, such as water
and fire, as well as music. Living Details includes new LED lamps, tables
made out of recycled plastics and divans for cooling off. Vesmanen wants
visitors to view and experience their environment in new ways, arousing
discussion on the role of design and the designer at the individual and
societal levels.
Design Forum Finland is an organization devoted to promoting Finnish design.
