Helsinki Design Week’s event for shopping and fun, the Design Market outlet
sale, made top design ranging from international brands to unique boutique
items available under one roof, and a great many of the visitors made real
bargains.
As soon as Design Market opened its doors, the most design-minded visitors
made a run for their picks from some 70 vendors at hand. On sale were
interior decoration items, clothing, jewelry and accessories. The vendors had
an opportunity to clean up their inventories, and the early birds were lucky
to obtain some of their most coveted products for less than half the regular
sale price.
True to Helsinki Design Week’s theme DO TOUCH!, Design Market gave a
chance for everyone to get their hands on, and learn more, about design.
Besides popular products from well-known brands, the event offered to the
visitors new finds and experiences, including surprise items made from
recycled materials.
Over the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6, Design Market
attracted thousands of visitors, more than ever before in the event’s
history. The mood ranged from bubbly to excited.
The first day ended with style: OVVN Fashion Boutique, a Helsinki-based
designer collective and shop, organised a fashion show.
The venue was the largest hall of Cable Factory, a vast former industrial
complex in Helsinki turned into a culture centre. The hall just barely held
all design enthusiasts comfortably at peak hours.
