Personal gifts from Helsinki design Christmas markets

Many people are in sweat in the weeks before Christmas over what to buy for the family and friends. Personal, ecological and fun design gifts are available from Christmas markets where designers and artisans sell their products.

Aalto University Christmas market November 26-28

Approximately 100 students of the Aalto University School of Art and Design participate in this market. On offer will be graphics, cartoons, jewellery, glass art, ceramics, tableware, textiles, lamps, magnets, clothing, photos, toys, brooches, ginger bread houses, and a great deal more.

Christmas market with artwork and products by students: November 26-28, 2010, noon to 6 pm on Friday, 9 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday. Media Centre LUME, Hämeentie 135 C, Helsinki.

Student association MIO’s Christmas market November 27-28

On sale will be design products by students of Lahti Institute of Design on three floors. Short films and animations will be shown in the auditorium. An exhibition of student work.

Ornamo’s Christmas market December 3-5

Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo will organize its traditional Christmas markets in five cities. On offer will be ceramics, clothing, decorative items, cards, bags, glass, wood and metal items, jewellery and tableware. The Helsinki market will feature Tiia Vanhatapio, Nathalia Lahdenmäki, Hannu Kähönen and Minna Cheung. The other markets will be held in Oulu, Rovaniemi, Joensuu and Seinäjoki.
