Optical fibre is a symbol of the rapid evolution of techniques and
technology, while weaving by hand lends a human touch.
The use of discarded oxidized copper sheeting in the sculptural forms and
structures of the works provides the patina of time and a contrast to optical
fibres in terms of material. There is an encounter of elements, old and new,
touched by the hand and time. In some of the works, linen is woven among the
fibres, thus underlining the union of technology and nature. The importance
of handicraft will never decline, although light moves at its own speed in
the new fibre.
