The arguments for granting the prize to Att included the Department’s emphasis on fulfilling requirements of sustainable development in its housing production, including low energy consumption. Furthermore, Att promotes high-quality architectural design through its own design and bidding competition practice.
As a frontline developer and client, Att is in a key position to promote high-quality and long-term built environment, SAFA stated at the award ceremony held in conjunction of an architectural convention last weekend.
Att is working on many demanding new projects in districts vacated from former port operations. Att is also initiating extension projects in future suburbs, which will serve as important examples as they are completed. Extension construction will play an important role in Helsinki, in addition to new construction.
The SAFA Prize winner is selected by SAFA, the Finnish municipal association and Finland’s Ministry of the Environment. The prize has been awarded since 1974 to an organization that has contributed to creation of high-quality living environments.
