The Lahti region is one of the most significant design centres in Finland. The TRACK to Industrial Design exhibition series will introduce the internationally awarded design skills of local industrial companies.
The exhibition series includes an exhibition organised jointly by Kemppi Oy, Stala Oy and Stora Enso Packaging Oy at the Lahden Muotohuoltamo Centre, as well as an exhibition tour which companies can be book to be held at their own facilities.
Kemppi Oy is a globally recognised welding solution provider. In 2011, Kemppi Oy’s Kempact RA product family received the internationally renown iF Product Design Award. The company’s previous accolades include the Red Dot 2006 design award.
“Kemppi design always aims at a user-oriented approach and functionality. Welding machines are welders’ tools, and therefore the machines must have first-class technical performance and reliability,” design director Jari Kettunen explains.
Stala Oy is a Finnish family business which operates in ten different countries designing, producing and marketing innovative solutions for the home environment.
“Through their design, Stala aims to streamline structures and to clarify and harmonise the external appearance of the product,” industrial designer Jari Peltonen states.
Stora Enso Packaging Oy is a market leader in the corrugated cardboard industry in Finland. The company also has production operations in nine countries outside of Finland.
“Stora Enso’s packaging design is based on the requirements set for the package by the product to be packed and the logistics chain. The package is always part of the product, and a successful packaging design will result in a complete article which will be easier to use and sell and which will be logistically more effective,” package development and product management director Aleksi Koskinen explains.
The exhibition series will be organised by the Lahti Regional Development Company in cooperation with Lahti Science and Business Park Ltd and the region’s industrial companies. The exhibition series has been designed as a ‘demonstration of proficiency' by students from the Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts.
The Muotohuoltamo exhibition will be open from 1 to 24 February 2012 and the exhibition tour at company facilities will run throughout 2012. The exhibitions organised at company facilities require reservation. Please contact Jari Tiikkainen, LAKES, puh. 040 727 8335.
