Finnish Catwalk offers trends and insight

A major Finnish fashion show event, the Finnish Catwalk, will bring together fashion lovers and professionals on Friday, 27 January 2012 at the Old Student House in Helsinki.

The next autumn and winter collections will be presented by some 30 interesting Finnish names, including well-known fashion brands from Delffi to Jousipaita and Voglia as well as young, up-and-coming designers, such as Marleena Terho who applies ecological values in her design processes and Dead Birds & Lionheart who have won many admirers with their innovative cuts. This free event will be open to public from 14:00 to 18:00. In addition to the fashion show, current artists will also be involved: Manna, a Finnish alternative rock queen who published the highly praised Shackles album, Karoliina Kallio who is competing in the Voice of Finland competition and Martta Hakala, well known from the Idols programme. The event will be hosted by Ilkka ”Ile” Uusivuori from YleX.

The programme will also include meetings between designers and the most popular fashion bloggers in Finland. 

In the press event related to the fashion show and to be held at 13:00, the results from the survey conducted jointly by the Association for Finnish Work and Finatex on the importance of design to Finnish companies and their competitiveness will be launched in the spirit of WDC Helsinki 2012. The perception of, attitude towards and investment in design of some 1,400 companies has been studied in the survey.

The event will now be organised for the 11th time. Last August some 4,000 consumers interested in fashion attended the event.
