Docpoint opening powered by coffee and outdoor films

Cinematic experiences in unusual places will characterise the opening of the documentary festival.

This is the eleventh Docpoint festival, and once again it is expected to fill the cinemas in Helsinki between 24 and 29 January. Last year, the documentaries attracted a record number of cinema-goers. This time, the festival will also have a high profile in the streets and on walls around the city.

The documentary film will move from the cinemas to the streets when the German tour A Wall Is A Screen projects short films on buildings and other walled surfaces. This film show has toured the centres of various cities, but will always aim to convey the atmosphere of the particular place where it is currently being shown. As with other cities, the film will convey something about the wall used as a projection surface in Helsinki.

The tour will take audiences from one short film and building to another, in groups and on foot. One can join the group randomly at any film wall or follow the tour along the entire route. Before the opening procession starts, WDC Helsinki 2012 and Paulig will provide a cup of coffee.

The opening of Docpoint will be celebrated on 24 January. A hot drink is available from 15.30 to 16.30 at the WDC Helsinki 2012 Studio, Aleksanterinkatu 16-18. Admission is free, so welcome!
