The New Year celebrations start in the afternoon in Kiasma

The New Year celebrations start in the afternoon for the whole family. An illuminated adventure trail has been set up especially for children in the empty showrooms of Kiasma Museum.

In the lobby, troll magicians wish the guests welcome, after which children and their minders can enjoy the adventure at their own pace. There are workshops, shadow puppet theatrical performances, light painting and shadow dancing along the trail.

An experimental voice and light installation exploring the interaction between people, light and space has been set up in the fifth floor big showroom. The installation invites viewers to laze by its side to experience space in a new way.

The New Year pre-party is a free of charge event suitable for all ages. Prams and pushchairs can be left in a parking place for the tour, and infants can be fed and nursed in a special baby service station.

The City of Helsinki provides the pre-party in co-operation with Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. The contents of the adventure trail are produced by Kiasma, PerformanceCircus and Valopaja light workshop.

The New Year Pre-Party is part the Senate Square New Year’s celebration which will actuate the Helsinki World Design Capital year.
