Next spring will see the publication of a new magazine, Gloria Design, which will widely broach design issues not only in its content but also in its own outward appearance.
The magazine, to be launched by our partner Sanoma Magazines in March 2012, seeks to generate a positive community spirit and boost confidence in Finnish innovation. The magazine will offer insights into fashion, design, living, décor, food and people.
“Gloria Design is a magazine about future choices. It is not only a gorgeous lifestyle magazine but also an accessible, inviting and interactive discussion forum. We want the magazine to divulge the message of the World Design Capital initiative in an attractive way to all Finns who are interested in their surroundings – not just to design aficionados and professionals,” explains the Editor-in-Chief of Gloria Design, Minna Juti.
The magazine will be printed on various types of paper in order to create varying and intriguing reading experiences and emphasise the diversity of the contents. Special attention will be paid to printing technology, and there will be a novel advertising concept formulated by a team involving the Kokoro & Moi design agency, which is in charge of the visual image of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.
“Magazines are already experiential media in terms of their content, and we now want to extend this dimension to their physical appearance. Various paper types and technical solutions will be used to underline aspects of the content and to create a hands-on, tactile mood. Meanwhile, the Gloria Design & Co. concept will offer advertisers a platform for capturing the readers’ attention and interest in a way that is perfectly suited to this environment and subject area,” Juti says.
