Recycled Fashion on the Catwalk

The Cellar to Catwalk recycled fashion show will present repurposed clothes and accessories at the Climateinfo point of the World Design Capital.

The information point in the Sanomatalo building helps citizens reduce their carbon footprints. It lends out energy meters, provides practical advice for everyday climate action and holds various workshops and thematic events, including Wednesday’s fashion show.

The show’s theme is the party season and all of its outfits have been made out of materials from the Reuse Centre. More clothes and accessories will be sold in the Reuse Centre Design Shop on the Climateinfo premises.

The objective for Reuse Centre is to improve the condition of the environment by promoting reuse and offering environmental education and training for diverse groups. The company also takes into account the environmental impact of its own operations.

The recycled fashion show will be hosted by redesigner Aija Rouhiainen, who designs recycled fashion, teaches upcycling and provides personal style advice.

- I love dressing in upcycled fashions. It means unique and stylish clothes and, what’s best, at bargain prices, says Rouhiainen, who is a fan of recycled design and individual styling.

The Cellar to Catwalk fashion show is open to all those who are interested in recycling and fashion. Time to get excited about unique fashion, while learning how to reduce our carbon footprints!
