Ten internationally successful Finnish illustrators are taking part in one of Holland’s largest design events in Eindhoven from 22 to 30 October 2011.
Dutch Design Week, which is being held for the tenth time, is showcasing the work of more than 1,800 designers. In addition to exhibitions, the event also offers a large number of lectures, workshops, fashion shows and seminars.
The Pekka of Finland – Contemporary Illustration from the Land of Booze and Blondes exhibition highlights the work of internationally successful illustrators as the third wave of Finnish design and ambassadors of a new generation of design. The exhibition presents ten illustrators from the lists of Agent Pekka. They are Lotta Nieminen, Inka Järvinen, Sanna Mander, Rami Niemi, Janine Rewell, Pietari Posti, Minni Havas, Sac Magique, Santtu Mustonen and Antti Uotila.
In recent years, Finnish illustrators have emerged as international success stories, whose handiwork can be seen in significant publications and advertising campaigns all over the world. The topical nature of the illustrators has also been noticed at home. Grafia, the Association of Professional Graphic Designers in Finland, conferred the title of Graphic Designer of the Year 2011 on creative consultancy, Agent Pekka.
Pekka of Finland – Contemporary Illustration from the Land of Booze and Blondes is one of the events of our year as World Design Capital. It has been made possible through co-operation between the Finnish Cultural Institute for Benelux, design agency Werklig, Agent Pekka and designer Lauri Johansson.
