Muotohuoltamo Centre seeks exhibitors

Lahti Muotohuoltamo Centre (previously Design Station), the Design Capital 2012 meeting place in Lahti, is taking in applications for potential exhibitions until 30 September 2011.

The Muotohuoltamo Centre is an old service station, built in 1931 in the style of modern, white Functionalism. There are two exhibition rooms that will display design from Lahti, Finland and around the world.

The Muotohuoltamo Centre hopes to host diverse examples of design from Lahti and its surrounding areas, reflecting on the themes of the World Design Capital year. The duration of the exhibitions can range from a few days to several weeks. Applications sent in during a previous round will also be considered.

The meeting place wants to offer visitors the ability to experience and participate in the World Design Capital project in many ways, for example in the form of workshops. “We are particularly looking for brief events, public stunts and other events that encourage collaboration from citizens. We will also be organising some of those ourselves,” explains Regional Artist Paula Susitaival of the Arts Council of Häme.

Located at Vesijärvenkatu 7 in Lahti, the old service station is open Tuesday to Friday 2 pm-6pm and Saturday 10 am-2 pm.
